On Sunday last the fire department was called out by two alarms. A i o'clock in the morning the house of John Wilson; No. 5 Walnut street, was discovered to be on fire, and was almost entirely destroyed. The firemen succeeded in saving some adjoining property. The house was insured for $1,500 and the contents for $600: During the afternoon of the same day an oil stove took fire in the millinery store of Mrs. Christine Rentschler, corner of E. Washington and S. Fourth streets. By the presence of mind of Mrs. Rentschler's daughter a big fire was prevented, the girl carrying the burning stove the whole length of the store and pitching it out doors.
