Mr. George Reed has had to bury seven of his hogs, who died of a complaint resembling hog cholera. At the annual school meeting of school district No. 3, held Monday evening, Mr. John Fiegel was elected moderator to succeed himself. The meeting was held in the new school house just finished and ready for school use. The old school house will be sold at public auction on Monday, Oct. 14, between the hours of 1 and 4 p. ra., to the highest responsible bidder. Pittsfield union Sunday school held their annual picnic at the residence of Adelbert Harris. It was well attended. Van Renselaer Briggs, from near Lansing, is visiting friends in this vicinity. It is "root, hog, or die," with the farmers. Now they are rooting. The new woman has appeared on the roads of Pittsfield, rigged out in Turkish trousers, and doubtless when she gets homL after a good spin on the bicycle, she can do justice to the biscuits, etc, prepared by the "old" woman.
