The annual session of the boards of commissioners, appointed by the several states to bring about, by volunta ry state action, greater unanimity in the statute laws prevailing throughout the states and territories, was heid at the Cadillac Hotel, Detroit with 16 states represented. For many yeara past there has been a great desiro amonj lawyers and the peoplo generally for unanimity of law throughout the couDtry. The law was passed in 1SS9 in New York state, creating an expert commission of three membera to consider the subject and advise with similar eommissions in other states. Masachusetts, New Jersey, Georgia, Michigan, Delaware and Mississippi feil in line with the idea. The statutes creating these eommissions have largely the same wording in the severa! states, and the men serve without pay. The siibjects tEat have invited the attention of the commissioners were marriage and divorce, the execution of wills and deeds, notarial certiScates, bilis and notes, and commercial notes generally.
