Saturday moruing Hurst came to the jail and gae himself up. C'oroner Ball iujpaneled a jury who on Tuesday afteruoon brought in a verdict tbat "the deoeased came to her death by the acoidental discharge of a gun iu the hands of Edward Hurst. " The witnesses produced before the jury told substautially the same story as Hurst did, with the exception of Offlcer O'Mara and Night watchman Campion whotestifled that when Hurst came after the doctor he told them he had been fooling with a revolver and it had gone off and hit Vena Johnson but had not hurt her niuch. The funeral services of the deceasod were held at the Dixboro church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Pope, of the Cauadian A. M. E. church officiating. She was laid beside her father and mother who rest in the same cemetery. Both Mr. aud Mra. Hurst feel very sad over the disti-essing affair, which is another striking example of the harm which comes from the free use of firearrus.
