Philadelphia, Oct. 3. - The United States armored cruiser Brooklyn was launched into the waters of the Delawaro at Cramps' shipyard. Miss Ida May Schiereñ, daughter of the mayor of the city from which the maminoth vessel tak es its name, broke a bottle of American chanipaign on the cruiser's bow, and said: "I christen thee Brooklyn." Some disappointment was feit at the absence of Secretary of the Navy Herbert, who was unable to attend. The vessel passed from the ways without a hitch.
