Ashland, Wis., Oot. 3. - Six of Ashland's eight sawmills have ehut down on account of the mili iiien striking. They refuse to work unless given an advance in wages. "It simply means a shutdown for the rost of the soason," said one millowner. "As an explanatlon of the differenco in priceg now and before the panic it is only necessary to cali attention to the fact that 15,000,000 feet of Norway piece stuff was sold bofore the panic at $11, and the same quality of lumber is worth now $8.50 to W."
