Mrs. Catherine Hangsterfer died Sunday morning at six o'clock at her late residence, 31 East University avenue, af ter au illness of eight weeks, the fatal malady being inflammation of the bowels. The deceased was boru iu Hesse Darmstadt, Germany, April 16, 1825, and was married to Jacob Hangterfer at Pittsbnrg, Pa., in 1848. Removing here in 1854 her husband started into the caterng and coufectionery business in a sniall frame hoase, where the later built the brick block which now bears his name. Ou her husband 's death in 1873 Mis. Hangsterfer conducted the bnsiness until 1888. Seven children survive her : J. Williaui Hangsterfer, Mrs. Clara Luyckx, Mrs. J. C. Stevens, allresiding in Detroit, Mrs.Ross Granger, Mra. Lou'S Limpert, Miss Lizzie Hangsterfer and Ed V. Hangsterfer of this city. The funeral services were held Tnesday afternoon from the house and were largely attended. Rev. R. M. Beach officiatod. The active pall bearers were made up of the rnembers of the family aud the following gentlemen acted as honorary pall bearers: Philip Bach, L. Gruner, Moses Seabolt, W. D. Harriman, C. H. Worden and J. T. Jacobs.
