Tyler is the county sent of Smith county, Tex., on tho northern división of tho International and Great Northern railroad. It has a public library of 15,000 volumes, a Bubstantlal courthouse, a bankiag house, the public eduoational lnstitution known as thu Charnwood institute, one daily and throe wcekly newspapers, Beven churohes and s(;veral mañufacturing interests. lts present population is estimated at 7,000.
