A barber 's shop is sometiines atrying place for rnen who dislike to hear other people gossip. The barber, espeoially if he bas a little shop aud is alone, must talk to his customers. Here is a scène in a country barber's sbop, a full bearded and rather sour looking gentleman being in the cbair. "Hair ent," says the customer. "Allright, sir. How'll yon have it ent?" "Short." "H'm- purty short, or only middlin?" " Very short. " "H'm- I wonldn't if Iwas yon„sir." "Why not?" "I don't thiiik very short hair wonld snit you at all well, sir. " "Oh, yes, it would. It would suit me exactly. " "H'ru - what makes yon think so, sir?" "Because I shouldn't have tocóme here for a long time. ' ' "Oh!" The barber ents away in lence and very short. -
