Rain feil Friday and Saturday for the first time in two months. Ployd Pardee has been very siok with scarlet fever but is now somewhat better. Mr. and Mrs. John Pardee, of Hillsdale, have come to spend the winter with their son, George D. The M. E. chnroh social held at F. W. Smith's was not very well attended owing to tbe rain. All that were present report a fine time with plenty of refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. James Tracey drove to Bancroft,to visit O. A. High and family, formerly of this place. School closed in the Craft's district last Friday, Nettie L. Rowe, teacher. Chas. Leeson will take her place. Mortinier Hendershott, of Manchester, held a phonographic entertainment at the Pierce school house Thnrsday evening. It was very fine and more should have heard it. Last Tciesday was the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. William Bowers. It was duly celebrated by friends and relatives. Mrs. Abel N. Howe, of Horton, visited her brother, Josiah Sloat, last week. Her mother accompanied her home to spend the winter. % Mrs. Jacob Bollmger, of Jackdou, has been visitiiig tier parents, Mr. aud Mrs. Andrew Cappler. Gecrge and Byron Rayruond have beeti eritortainini? tbeir parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Raymond, of Chelsea. Mr. aud Mrs. Samuel Smith and daughter Myra spent Wednesday in Chelsoa. Cards are ont annouucing the marriage of Miss Cora Bell Allen, of Cambridge, to James Christler, of Detroit. Miss Alleu's inany friends wish her life's joy. August Seymer held an auction on Tuesday last. There were 1,500 bushels of corn sold at 15 cents a bushei, 110 sheep and other personal property. David Dubois' mother aud Miss Celia Avery visited at Kelly's Corners over Sunday. Chas. A. JBullard expects to have an auotion about the 30th at nis home in South Sharon. Lyrnan S. Hnlbert threshed 548 bushels of coru last week. Cook, of Grass Lake, did the work. Miss Minnie Walker, of Manchester, visited her mother in North Sharon over Sunday.
