More Marines Needed
Washington, Nov. 21.- Colonol Charles Heywood, commanding tho marine corps, ín his annuiil report to tho seoretary of the navy, ruakes a strong appoal for an tncrease in the enlistad strength of the uorps to meet the additional duties iinposed by the increase of the navy. Colonel Heywood estimates that 1,500 marines on shore are needed for the protecblon of millions of dollars' worth of govBrnment property in their charge, a number 3)0 Ín excess of tho marines now engagod in that duty. ín addition to this, it is estimated that about 450 more men will be required for the new vessels now ander construction.
