HOLTON, Kan., Jan. 9.—At his home on the outskirts of town Ed Welch was called to his door by men as yet unknown robbed, blindfolded, and the most brutal treatment accorded him. After securing what valuables he possessed they threw him to the ground, and while some of them held him secure another cut off his left hand with an ax. No reason can be assigned for the barbarous outrage.
