February's animanga club is all about VILLAINS! Post to vote for your favorite villain in anime and we'll watch a clip featuring the winner of this unpopularity contest.

Animanga club for teens (grades 6-12) will meet at the Malletts Creek branch of the library on Tuesday, February 7 from 7-8:30 PM in program room A-B. There will be snacks, prizes for those who blog, anime clips to watch, manga and anime to discuss, and so much more.

So...who's evil, nasty, ill-intentioned, or just plain annoying?
Also--Guess the villain in the picture..

Huh, Villains. Nuts most of my favorite anime and manga don't have the kind of villain I love. Oh wait I would have to say Darcia from <em>Wolf's Rain</em> in all his insane glory.

Most of my kind of Anime/manga don't have a villian, Akito in fruits basket is sort of a villian, but he's really more of a victim.

Yeah, that's one thing I like about a lot of manga: the story often shows you why someone who's acting badly is doing it. You get to see their past and what happened to them to make them so angry or violent or greedy or whatever it is. So the concepts of good and evil aren't ontological--meaning they're not about who people are in their essence--they are flexible and defined more by how people (or animals, or gods, or whatever) choose to act. But there are often still amusing villains who get to make life difficult for the main character(s)!

I like that aspect of manga/anime also, the only problem is most writters don't know what motivates truely scary people. Darcia is one of the few villians that displays a true hint of evil.

Adult swim has been bringing so many great shows to us night owls... Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist, Standalone Complex, FLCL, s-CRY-ed, BeBop and Champloo. Man, such good writing, such great characters, such lousy dialogue. =)

Knives is pretty cool, but I think the deadly sins from Fullmetal Alchemist are awesome bad guys. That show just keeps getting weirder.

Also, I'm not sure what's going on with his furry scarf on one shoulder thing, but I have to admit that Sesshomaru is a pretty tough bad guy.

First of all, the person in the picture is Knives from Trigun. At the scene where he snaps.
Now I believe that my favorite anime villan is Jan Valentine (Pronounced: Jan=Yahn) from Hellsing. One reason is because he is a vampire. Others reasons are he has a hot girlfriend, he acts really cool, and he swears like crazy. I dont think we can watch him in a scene though because of his swearing.

hmm.... favorite villain.... Call me crazy, but I like buggy the clown. (one Piece) I kinda think he's.... never mind.

I also like Portgas D. Ace, Mihawk, Sae (Don't know if she's bad or just wants to make Momo lose her mind), and Jin.... if he's concitered a bad guy....

That new one that you put up is Treize from Gundam Wing. That was too easy. Really. 2 points for me! 0 for you.

Btw, I wanna mention another anime villan that many of you might know (he's much more known than Jan Valentine but not as cool.) He is Vicious from Cowboy Bebop. He is probably the closest villan I know to Sephiroth from FF7 (I can't select him because it's not a game unless you count Advent Children as an anime.)Like Sephie, he has past relations with the protagonist, uses a sword and has the common long silver hair look. Though he has people help him out in this unlike Sephiroth.

OMAHGAWD. VOCAL. FOR. EVERRRR. ;___; If you don't know who he is...then...you don't know about /my personal favorite/ manga villain EVAR. ;__; *sweat* Bestvilllaaaain. And definately a villain if you like Hamel and company. Though...Sizer's awesome too. She turned all.../protagonist/, though, soooo.

And Chestra's all girlyyyy, so...no points for him. Agh, and...Orgel's funny. Not to mentio- :: shuts up::

And the Earl Millenium from D.Gray-man's kind of...funky. Err. I like Rhodo and Tiki. BUTSTILLVOCAL! ;___; *sweat*

Ooo ooo oooooo, andandand...Luc! LUCLUCLUCLUCLUCLUC!!! -Best- antagonist in Suikoden, although they crapped up his character in the manga. Siigh....

Okat, I'm done. XD;

ok, on my first post I said Jan Valentine had a Girlfriend. Scratch that, I was confusing him with another character. Though all of the other things about him are true.

That is Kuruku from Unico on Magic Island. The villain who was originally a mistreated toy. He was eventually reborn at the end of the earth. He got a consuming hatred of human kind. He used magic to get at the humans. Basically an eye for an eye.
Unico couldn't fight him (buddhist) so he offered love and caring. Then Kuruku becomes a wooden doll.
Thats about Kuruku in a nutshell.

I have to admit that I'm not much of a fan of villains (and some of them are a bit too overrated... *coughSESSHOMARUcough*), but my favorite is "Nya" (that's what they call him, but they never tell you his real name) from Pita-Ten. Sure, he may LOOK cute and cuddly as a cat (heck, he always looks cute and cuddly thanks to Koge-Donbo), but deep down he's PURE EVIL!!! Someone dies? He doesn't care! Someone's crying? He just tells them to shut up! Evil, I tell you!!! O_o

...Oh, and I'm also voting for Vocal so I can watch more Violinist of Hameln. xD Even though I've heard the anime is bad. Whatever.

I get the feeling I might wanna cut my hair sometime. In anime club, Ambre said that with my long hair (with half of it bleached), i'm a bishonen.....
Guess how I feel being called a bishonen. It's not as good as you think. She meant it as a comment though.

Yeah, I did my own hair, hence my respect for actual hair stylists. Put your hair in their hands and you needn't worry that maybe you accidentally cut a big bald patch somewhere on the back of your scalp. Let's hear it for looking mangy!

Ooh, but all this guessing of mystery villains makes me think we could have a trivia-type feature in the zine. Like have a quote or a single image from something and people have to write in where it's from. Hrmmmmm....

Iv'e only seen like 1 or 2 episodes right in the middle of the series.
Actually one of the animes that I have seen (well.. only the first two episodes) that is really random is Midori no Hibi. Basically it starts out as some girl appears to be attached to the main character's right hand. He called it "the Devil's hand" because he always used to pick fights and his finishing move would be a right hook.
