Rapid Work On Coast Defenders

Nett YORK, Jan. 23. - Orders have rcached the narjr yard to the effect that the Ammeii rain Katahdin mast be read7 to go into commission on or before Feb. 12. The offioers at the yard have had their men at work putting the interior of the coast defender in sb.;p ; and say they will have no difficuHy in getting the vessel ready before the date fixed. The work on the monitor Terror has also been pusbod during tko past few weeks. It ia believed that she wili be ready to go in to commission if necessary within ths nezt two months.
