A correspondent writes: "It may como as a surprise to many to learn tbat Cromwell's head, in, uiider tho circuinstances, a fine state of preservation, is at the present time in the possession of a gentleman who resides in Kent. The head was lately shown to Mr. Hamo Thornyeroft, who is execnting the bust of the Protector, which has been subscribed for by the ex-premier and others, and ihesculptor, it is said, entertainsno doubt whatever as to its genuineness. A etudy of the head has afforded Mr. Thornyeroft material assistacce, though one of the casts - of which there are several in existence - taken almost immediately after death, has probably been a saf er basis in the execution of the work. The hair on the head, which is of a red, or rather auburn, color, is in perfect preservation, and so is the short beard. "
