The il. of M. Daily started a crnsade this week against the system of cheating in examinations, by printing a lengthy communication which called a halt pon the practiee. The author of the commnnication desired faculty espionage and thought that the samo "honor" system prevalent insomeeasfcern colleges should bs made prevalent here. It is held that the closest scrutiny by professors only makes stndents more adept in "ponying"' and "riding the horse. " Campanari and Williams are engaged for the biiss and tenor respeccively for tbe May festival. Mme. Lillian Blaneit, soprano; tíertrude May Stein, contralto, and Rose Stewart, soprano, are the other principal soloists. J. F. Thomas, '97, has been eleoted ajuuior member of the Inlandfir board. The juuiors h6ld a well attended sooial at Granger's Wednesday evening. Geo. E. Woodrnff, of Grand Rapids, has been elected captain of the '98 baseball team for the coming season. The Students' Lecture Association usually provided fnnas for the monthly arrival at the library of such periodicals as Scribner's, Harper's, the Oentury, etc. Now that they are giving their funds for tbe benefit of the Women's gym the students have to get along without the current literature of the day.
