Many of the methorts most empJoyed by the workers among1 the poor at the present time ■were used if uot originatedby John Wesley in his work. At the old fonndry in Moorfields, London, he established a loan fund f rom which the poor could be assisted and so saved from pawning their gooda and paying exorbitant rates of interest. Snch funds are among the most recent means nsed by the reform -workers in our great cities. If this work had been kept up among Methodists and enlarged to meet the needs of the times, it would have prevented the rise of a host of so cálled beneyolent insui'ance organizationa rhioh have proved so detrimental to the interests of the people, consuming time for nnnecessary meetings and squandering large soms of money on 7181011017 Bohemos.
