The state department has jast issued Bulletin No. 12, of the state census, which deals with school attendance. Froiu it we glean the following f aots relating to this oonnty. Ia 1894 there were 11,734 native born children. between the ages of 5 and 20 in this oonnty, of whorn 8,701 attended school during the census year and 769 foreign born children of vh)m 413 attended school during the school year. That is 74 per cent of the native born children of school age and 53 per cent of the foreign born children attended school. This percentage is better than that of the state at iarge, in which 69 percent of the native born and 48 per cent of tbe foreigi bom children attended school. While the pojjulation of the state in ten years iuoreased 20.92 per oent, the pupila at the publio schools incieased 25.41 per cent.
