It ia rather aiiuising that while we are trying to get nsed to "hats off" in cmr theaters and other placea of amusement our Euglish cousins are bewailing the fate that does not perinit them on occasions to keep tbeirs on. Reserved seats at concerts iu LoƱdon are perinitted only to unbonneted women and if a woruan goes alone and in a cab, which she dismisses on arriving toreplace it by another at the end of the performance, she often finds herself wandering about for sorae miuutes in her search for the second cab most uncomfortably hatless. For the carriage pcople, the rule iinposes no annoying j:enalties, but it does on that growing olass of women in Eugland - those who go alone or by twos and inexpensively to concerts or the play.
