DKS Moines, March 12. - The Kepub licans of Iowa, in convention assembled Wednesday formally presented to the na tlon the name of theïr favorito son, Sena tor William B. Allison, as the oandidat of the Hawkeye atate for the highest ofïie ■within tho gift of the American people There were 1,142 delegato9 in the conven tion, which was called to order a few minutes after XI o'clock by H. Gr. Mc Millan, chairman of the state centra conimitieo. But three times that "nnmber of active warkers, coming from every county in the state, have been attracted here by the supremo importance of the gathering. In accordance witii the recommendation of tho st.te central committee the congreseional convencions for the election of district delegates and alternates were held ■between 9 and 10 o'clock Wednesday morning In the committee rooms of tho ea-pitol, and la erer casa the delégate ■ I ected wero instructed to voto for Senator Allison as long; as there was a probability f his nomination. Chairnifn Mc.Millan lost no time in alling tho conven tion to order and in inroducing Congressman Dolliver, who íad been seloctod as temporary chairman nd who had mudo the journey from Washington for the purpose oí accepting ihe honor bestowed upou him.
