Sunday rnoruing services were notable iu tbe oburch aunáis of St Andrew. Long before the hour of 10:30 the church was filled with people and it was long after tbat hour wben tbe last arrival had found a seat in the crowded place of worship The oocasion was the ordination to the priestiiood of Eev. LawreuceT. Ooie, agrandson of ex-Go". : Felch and a popular resident of this I city, where he was bom and reared. The chanuel of the church was beanti: fully decorated with potted planta, ferns, etc, while ent flowers andEaster . lilies sent forth their perfume from the altar. The olergymen present were, Rt. ,Rev. Thomas F. Davies., bishop of the diooese, and Bev. W. O. Waters, rector of St. Andrew's ohurch, Detroit, Rev. Heury Tatlook and Rev. R. M. Beach, 'f St. Andrew's, Ann Arbor, Rev. L. P. Jncelyn and Rev. Jas. E. Craig, deaoons. Rev. W O. Waters preached the ordination sermón. In it he dwelt upon the fact that the Episcopal chnrch had been in existence for tweuty centnries, being in direct succession to tne apostles. He showed tbat chnrch law was established by the disoiples and that God's law was a law of order. Therefore it was rigbt that churches should be rnled within presoribed limits. Christ came into the world and established His church, tanght a defiuite doctrine, trained certain chosen men in that doctrine, and then handed this kingdom on earth over at the proper time to thnse trained men oommissioned as its offioers. These officers act as the king's representatives, as prophets or teachers of the doctrine, as priests who minister in His name as kings, who rnle the kingdom in His stead. JB irst, as priests they are given the pastoral commission "Feed my lambs" to absolve sins in His name, and to offer the great memorial sacrifico of the death of Christ. Secondly, as kings to preside over, to rule, to train chosen men, to transfer power and hand over the kingdom to others. Lastly as prophets or teachers to go ont to all the world and preaoh the gospel to every oreature. He narrated the commencement of the church, the going abroad of the apostles and appointment of the deacoos to aid the apostles. Later there was the order of priests and at the death of the apostles the name of bishop was transferred and given solely to the successors of the apostlos, so that there are now three orders in the church, bisbops, priests and deacons. In that portion of his sermón reserved for the oandidate the preacher dwelt upon the awful sacredness of the trust about to be oommitted to him. Rev. Hanry Tatlook presented Rev. Mr. Cole for ordination. The administration of the Holy Communion followed.
