A very large percentage of the ordinary playgoers are communicants of the chnrches, and a well considerad condemnation of a play wonld certainly injnre ita popularity. "Christian people" woold not thiak it "respectable" to sit through a play which had been condernned by their spiritual pastors. All that is ueeded is a little more ministerial courage with regard to the stage, and it will very soon be seeii that the pnlpit really possesses more power in this direction than it ever bad ín the history of the modern drama.
