Steer Runs Amuck

Milwaukee, April 9. - A stoer broke away ïrom a butcher on Vliot street Tuosday and dashed down the thoroughfare, whioh was cro#ded vvith pedostrians. Men, women, and children ran in all diroctions to get away from the infuriated animal and several wero slightly hurt. There was a bicyole rider in sight and the animal chasedhim. ïho rider pumpcd Lor all he was worth, but the steer gained on him and the man jumped from the wheel and ran for a patrol box around whieh he circled in an effort to keep away from the steer's horns. A squad of pólice tried 'to capturo the infuriated beast, but he got away from thom, and, tearing down Seventh street, cleared that thoroughfare of pedestrians. The pólice followed in a wagon and fired several shots without hittinghim. ïhen a boy with a rifle carne along killed the steer at his flrst shot.
