Juatice Pond has had an unusual stroke of business in nis court the past week. Prior to that it has been so quiet for soiae time past that the judge was seriously thinking of letting the offioe go into bankruptcy. On Saturday last George Kelly, a horseshoer froin Detroit, was taken before him charged with being drunk on the Street. He was given three days in jail. George Higgins and Leander Alley, rival undertakers of Dexter, got into an altercation on account of business rivalry, and as a result Higgins slugged Alley. For this privilege Higgins paid $20 and 3.60 costa on Monday. Adam Bestel and John Bestel are brothers in name and family, also brothers in their profession of umbrella venders and in their fondness for the cup that cheers. They were both drank on the streets Tuesday night. Justice Pond has no particular fondness for this sind of people so he said two days each in jail when they were brought before liui. Charles Bostwick, John McCarty and John Sbaw were arrested by Depnties 3anfield aDd Sweet Tuesday night for odging in a freight car in the Ann Arbor railroad yards and acting in a disorderly manner. It was a jury case and afforded, the spectators lots of amusement on acoount of the interchange of words between the attorneys. 51y was driving through the alley at he rear of Dean & Co's. store when he drove ovec a horse block frightening a team belonging to the firm, causing it o break some of its harness. Sedgwiok )ean demanded payment for the slight lamage and had Ely arrested for Irunkenness. The jury assessed $1 fine and costs amounting to $15.61. The naso was annfialfsrï. Justice G-ibson had one lone case the jast week and that was when Arthur oland, of ihe north side, was bronght lefore him yesterday charged with being Irunk and disorderly Tuesday night. u defanlt of $1 and $5.65 costs he went to jail for two days.
