Montpelieb, Vt., April 30.- The Republlcans of Vermont assembled Wednesday for their convention. The enthusiasm manifestad was for the party rather than for oandidates and sonietimes it seemed there was a tendency to guard against a demonstraron in favor of any one leader. The convention adopted the following as supplernental to the platform: "Besolved, That in the preat apostle of protection, Wllliam MoKinley of Ohio, we reoognize the firsfc choiee of the Repubiicans of Vermont for their presidential oandidate." The following delegates afc largo to the natioual conventiou were chosen: Senator Redfield Proctor of Rutland, Pr. H. D. Holton of Brattleboro, Colonel E. C. Smith of Sc. Albans and Charles A. Prouty of Nevvpoi-t.
