Do Texas Foxes Climb Trees?
A correspondent of a sportsman's paper declared recently, "There is little sport to be had in hunting foxes in Texas, because they clirab trees in 10 or 20 minutes af ter the dogs start them. " The foxes iu England are often driven to the trees by the eager dogs, but they do not climb in the sense that a sqnirrel or bear does. They jump to the lower branches of the trees and by their aid work themselves up to the top branches. A fox can get into a tree that is no higher than 8 feet to the lower branches, and it is probably by jumping that the Texas fox gets into the trees.
