JJUBUQUE, la., May ai.- The lollowing delegates to Chicago were selected at the meetings Wednesday morning by the delégalos from che various congressionai Öistricts: First, W. H. Stackhouse, BurHngton; W. R. Wherry, Keosauqua. Second, T. M. Gobble, Clinton; Max Meyer, lowa City. Third, John S. Murphy, Dubuqias C. M. Groene, Greene. Fifth, Theodore Bradford, Marshalltown; J. M. Terry, Cedar Raplds. Sixth, W. A. McIntire, Ottumwa; Henry Taylor, Bloomfield. Seventh, M. H. King, Des Moines; J. H. Cunningham, Knoxville. Eighth, S. A. Brewster, Crestón; Charles H. Thomas, Bedford. Ninth, Frank Allen, Audubon; W. H. Ware, Council Bluffs. Tenth, R. F. Jordán, Boone; C. C. Colcle, Carroll. Eleventh, T. P. Murphy, Sioux City: Soy ster, Sheldon. Nearly 1,000 delegates to the Democratie itate convention, two-thirds of them wearing -white silk badges with a picture of exGovernor Boies and the inscription: "Free coinage, 16 to 1, and Horace Boies for president," trooped into the Grand Opera house Wednesday. It had originally been intended to house the assemblage in Sangerbund hall, which has a seating capacity of 10,000, but the delegates protested when they learned that this structure -was four miles distant, and the theater was substituted at the last moment. It has capacity for but 1,200, and after the delegates had taken their seats room remained for but a handful of the throng of spectators that clamored for at mittance, and it was found necessary to close the doors. At 10:45 State Chairman C. R. Ranck called the convention to order. S. S. Wright of Tipton was made temporary chairman. He made a short speech. At the conclusión of the address, comraittees on resolutions and credentials were announced, and the convention took a recess until 3 p. m. Free Silver and Kothing Else. The entire dclegation to Chicago, except those from the First and Second distriots ■will bc silver men. The platform will declare for free silver and nothing else. The contest in the First district was decidedin favor of the gold standard delegates, who choose Stackhouse and Wherry delégate to Chicago, with instructions in accord with the sentiments of the caucus. The contest in Blackhawk county was referred to the committee. The Fourth district caucus was decidedly silver and their men were chosen delegates to Chicago. When the convention reassembled the committee on rules and permanent orgauization reported in favor of E. M. Carr of Deleware county as permanent chairman. His introduction by Temporary Chairman Wright brought cheers from the convention. Horace Boies was chosen delegato at large to Chicago.
