A terrino wind and rainstorm struck Ypsilanti and vicinity Thursday afternoon aud evening of last week and did quite a little damage. The wind carne up betweeu 6 and 7 o'clnck and lasted for 20 minutes, blowing with terrifio force and was succeeded by a cloudburst of rain. The only daroage dono in the city was at the house of Henry J. Clarke, (orner of Adams st. and Forest ave. Lightning struck tne chiraney and somewhafc demolishing it ran down the stovepipe into the kitchen The wind did the most damage in the country, rnany trees being blown down across the highwayg. At Whittaker the roof of Alfred Smith's house was blown off. At Stony Creek, Mrs. Laflin's barn was severely shaken up but reinained intact. South of Rawsonville, Supervisor Hunter saw pieces of luinber flying through the air. They came froni the farms of Richard King, William Royce aud John Wright, in Ypsilanti town, where the roofs of the barns and the orchards aud fences were destroyed. w-t. "■''- - ■ . ! ■.''; In Augusta the wind took a strip 20 rods wide off the back of the farm of Len Smith aud cleaned it tip. Trees were blown down and everythiDg in the strip destroyed The roof of the barn belonging to Mr. Hamm.nd, who lives near Willis, was also taken off. At Cherry Hill and in that vicinity the wind blew down trees in several orchards. Half of the roof on S. P. Westfall's baru was blown off.
