The Mills District School
The teacher and scbolars of the Mills district in Pittsfield were treated to a geunine surprise last Friday afterDoou by the patrons of the district. The matter had been kept very quiet so that the event did not take the nature of the conveutional surprise where "no one was snrprised. " Au excellent prcgrain was carried out nnder the direction of F. E. Mills, after which, on 1 halt of the patrons Mr. Mills presented the teacher, Miss Lena Mallory, with a nnmber of splendid books as a tokeu of appreciation of the efficiĆ«nt work done by her as teacher in the school during the past five years. He also annonuced that Miss Mallory would be found at her post as teacher once more in the feil. Ex-Coinmissioner Cavanangh and Commissioner Wedemeyer were present and made short talks. At the conclusiĆ³n of the program all adjourned to the school grounds, where a splendid supper was served. The interest shown by the patrons on this occasion is but characteristic of the interest always exhibited by them in their school, which is without a doubt one of the very best district schools in Washtenaw county.
