Poor, Stricken Silver
Every good silverite knows that the crime of 1873 struck down the white metal and made gold the ouly ruoney of the country. At least that is what the tree coinage agitators say, and they may be snpposed to have some regard for the truth. In view of the alleged demonetization of silver it is important to note that during the month of May of this year the coinage of silver at the United States mints amounted to $1,826,490, of which $1,500,000 was in standard silver dollars of full .legal tender. This is a very curious kind of "demonetization. "
