Deputy Sheriff Jay Wood Wednesday night lodged in jail. Eby O. Can', charged with uttering a certifícate of deposit with forged endorsement. lt seeins that in March of the present yeai1 Carr stole a certifícate of deposit from his sister at Brlghton and brougbt it to Aim Arbor to get it cashed. He presented it, seemingly properly endorsed, to the State Savings Bank for payment. The bank denianded identification. Carr got E. T. Edmunds, who knew hii, to ideütify him. The bank asked Edmunds to endorse the certifícate, which he did thinking all was correct. Carr got the money and skijped out at once. Edmunds soon found out how things stood and being held for the iinount of the certifícate got out a warrant for Carr. Carr kept away till Wednesday when Brighton oflicers managed to ar■ rest him af ter a hard chase. Officer Wood brought him before Justice Pond yesterday. At Carr's request the hearing was set i'or Saturday at 0 a. in.
