Ou Sunday moruing last at the family homestead, 39 Washteuaw uve., occurred the death of Miss Sylvia E. Smitb, sister of Dr. W. B. Sniith aud Mrs. M. A. Lukeus, at the age of 7á years. Miss Smith was bom iu Bane Centre, Orleans county, New York, in 1824. She was the third danghter of Dr. B. S. Smith, who was prominent in Auu Arbor busiuess and political circles 25 years ago. She moved to Ann Arbor in 1858, since wbich time she has resided coutiuuously at the farnily homestead on Washtenaw ave. Miss Smith was au invalid for mauy years, on which account and because of her naturally retiring disposition she was able to mingle but little iu society. Duriug her residence iu Auu Arbor she was a constant member of the Presbyteriau church. Her pastor, Rev. J. M.Gelston, D.D., officiated at the funeral, which took place from her home Wednesday moruiug at 10 o'clock. Besides the brother and sister meutioned above there are three sistera residiug elsewhere: Mrs. A. M. Clark, Sioux Falls, S. D. ; Mrs. John Q. Wilsou, Sturgis, Mich., aud Mrs. Schuyler Grant, Detroit.
