The state encarupment at Island Lake, which will open Ang. 13. will this year be as near aa ideal camp as it is possible to makfi it. "While it was a model camp in all respects last year, QuartermasterGsn. Kidd says he proposes to work out uiarked improveïneuts this year. One feature is the change in the supply of water. Island Lake will not be the sonrce. A number of wells have been bored on the gronnds, and a Fupply of pure water has been found. Qnartermaster-General J. H. Kidd went there Tnesday morning to take charge of tbe work of putting the camp in orler, taking with him a fnrce of 15 men and expect" to be there in persou uutil the close of the encampraenf. A detail of 83 men and orflcers will be sent in advauce to report to the quartermaster-geueral Ang. 1 for grand duty. The detail has been ordered and" will be made by Brigadier-General Hawley. As the Ionia compauy hart this detail, one very much desired, last year, it is probable that the duty will be assigued to sorue other compauy this year. Gen. Kidd anticipates that, a battalion of the ü. S. Infantry will join the National Guard in the eucampuient.
