As the time for the republioan state convention approaches the signs of the bitter struggle that will be carried on tbere is more and more apparent. Every effort will be made by the machine to tnrn down Pingree. The flghting mayor of Detroit is also putting np one of the best fights of his life to secure to himself the Domination and the indioations are that whoever wins out, gaping wounds in the party ranks will be left which it will be a hard matter to close up. Both the Bliss and Pingree crowds claim to be confident of winning and CTDonnell and Aitken, neither of whom are saying much about the matter, are still working hard. Beports from the various republican county conventions held Tuesday shosv that Mayor Hazen S. Pingree captured hls full'share of the delegates elected to the state convention at Grand Rapids next Wednesday. In Grand Traverse the delegation is solid for His Honor. Sanilac county also instructed for lijm, and so did Macomb and Bay. in üerrien the deegates go uninstructed, althongh the Bliss managers endeavored to have the 20 delégales instructed for the Saginaw men. The Cass county delegation is divided equally between Bliss aud O'Donnell. The Gogebio men are uniustrncted but are supposed to be for Bilss, although the ruiners in that section pin their faith on Pingree. In the Graud Rapids primarios Tuesday Pingree carried the first, fifth, niuth and twelfth wards, the otbers goiug for Bliss. Over 700 votes were cast aud the najority for the Bliss inen was 150. Of the 24 townships ontside of Graud Rapids in Kent county, Bliss claims 20 and the Pingree men concede hini that number. In Muskegou the batt'.e went just the other way. Pingree carried every ward in the city, except the sixth, five to one, aud in that ward he had 16 ïnajority. In West Bay City he got five out of tbe six wards. In Flint there is mach speculatiou as to where the Genesee delegation wil throw their strength in case Mr. Ait ken should drop out of the guberoator ial race at auy time. Many people there, especially candidates for connty offices,, wonld like to see Pingree head the Republican ticket this fall. They think that Pingree is the only mau in Miohigau who can swing the state into thft rp.nnblicau line this fall. One-hal the delegación will certainly go to Pin gree when Mr. Aitkeu is done with anc the balance will go anywhere to defea Mr. Pingree. While there are ruany among the delegates who do not like Pingree personally, yet they believe him to be the iMoses to poll the parcy ou of the wilderness this November. Iu Lapeer the sentiment seems to b divided batween Bliss and O'Donnel with the odds a little iu favor of tb former. Twelve conventions were beid iu th etate Wednesday anr: 14 delegates wer elected. Of these Pingree captured 95 Bliss is credited with 29, O'Donnell 15 Wheeler 1 and 6 doubtful. The follow ing is the result of the work of the couventious, showing the preference o: of these delegates for ftuvernor: Men ominee - Pingree, 7; Innia- Pingree 8 O'Donnell 4, Bliss 8; Hillsdale- Pin gree 7, O'Dounell 6; Oceana- no in strnctions, with strocg Bliss leanings Oakland- Pingree 20; Tuscola- Piugree, 3, Bliss 8 ; Lapeer- Pingree 1. O'Donnell 5, Bliss 5 ; Ogeroaw - Pingree2; Calhoun- Pingree 16; Braach -Pingree 11; Allegan- Bliss 13; Bay - Pingree 20.
