Hiseomrado ran to the bank, intending to offer assistance. Hamlin began to scream in an unlntelliglble way and finally shoutccl: ''The place is full of alligators; they are tearingme to pieces." Limón ran a little further toward the river, hoping to flnd a place where he could get down the bank, fully intending to help his friend at all hazards. As he came to the edge of the bluff a horrible sighc was presented. Two monster saurians wero rushing toward the river and they held his unfortunate friend iu their jaws and were crunching his bones. One of the terrible creatures had one of the man's arms in his mouth, while the other had seized one of his legs. Before he had time to realize what had happened the big moster had reached the river and disappeared beneath its muddy waters. Dozens of other alligators came out of the den and followed the two monsters into the river. Iu a few moments the alligators dragged the mangled and lifeless body of his friend out on a sandbar, where they tore it into fragmenta.
