We have presented in a former issue oí this paper the utterances of James G. Blaine pon the currency question, wherein he plainly and uneqnivooally declares that the single gold standard is wrong and that the renionetizatioii of silver is the only right and honorable course. It may interest our readers to know that President James A. Garfield believed just as his Secretary of State, Mr. Blaine, did, as shown by his words in the debate in the House of Representatives in 18TS. Here are Garfleid's words : "Every man who is opposed to the use of silver ooin as part of the legal currency of the country I disagree with. Every man who is opposed to the actual legal use of looth rnetals I disagree with. "I would endow the two dollars with eqnality and rnake tbe coinage free.
