A letter has beeu z-eceived frota Bishop Merrill, of the Ohio conference, consenting to the appoiutrueut and surrendring their claim on Mr. McElroy, who will take up the duties here about Oct. 1. Mr. McElroy isa! yonng mau with experience gaiued by ha ving been a pastor in two college toWD9, a flnished writer and an j qnent speaker. He is about 37 years ; of age, and bas taken the degrees of A. j B, and A. M. f rom Oh id Wesleyan and D. D. from Boston School qf Theology, and Ph. D. frorn the Boston School of Arts. Both he and his wife ! ave college graduates and extremely i popular in the city from which they come.
