Charles Elnier, of Saginaw, was arrested in that city on Friday and handed over to Deputy Sheriff Lester Canfield, charged with the laroeny of sorue rings aud a bracelet from Miss Edith Batterson, of this city. He was brougbt back here the same evening aud placed iu jail Saturday. The coinplaint was changed to one of larceny from tho person as the Saginaw offlcers state that he has been arrested seveu or eight times before in that city, four of whioh were for larceny from young women. He will have bis examination today. Martin P. Vogel, who keeps a saloon on N. Fourth ave., was before Justice Pond Mouduy, charged with pertnitting gambling in bis plaoe of business. The complaiut was niider the city orrlinance íigainst gambling. Uhas. L. Palmer swears that he lust $19 50 in the deal. Vogel claims tbat lie (lid not see any money pass, but Pa. nier swears that he saw Vogel hitnstiïf c=p mouey. The hearing of the ra ;■ wi.s set for nest Monday.
