Dr. Francis K. Rexford, one of Ypsilanti's earliest piorieers, a suocessfnl medical praotitioner, a proaperous business man, and one who had earned for trimself the esteem, regard and respect of nis fellow citizens by bis upright, Christian life, died at his home, 111 Burou et., Ypsilanti, at 9 o'clock b'ridny evening after an illness of ouly two weeks' duration. Dr. Rexford was born in Oheuango couuty, N. Y., Aug. 17, 1814. After an early school educatiou at his home he entered Fairñeld Medical College and graduated from that institutiou in February, 183?. He shortly afterwards married and carne, with his wife, to Ypsilanti in June of the same year, where he commenced the practico of lis profession, which he coutinued nntil 1850 when ht, went iuro the mercautile business with Benj. Follett. This partnership lasted until 1850, when Mr. Rexford founded the business of which he was at the head at the time of his death, and this business was located in the same place where it las continud for 43 years. He was aostmaster of Ypsilauti under Polk's administration, was for a number of years a member of the school board and for six years was couüty snperinteudeut of the poor. Four sous survive lim. Tbey are Charles E., Edgar and Frank H., of Ypsilanti and Dwigbt C, of Detroit. The funeral services held at the houe Monday were largely atteuded. His remains wnre interred in the family lot in Higblaud cemetery.
