Grand Rapids, Mich., Sept. 29.- Congressman William Alden Smith and George P. Hummer, silver nominee, are good friends outside of politics and each is so sure of election that they have made the following agreement: If Hummer is elected Smith will carry a torch in a parade in honor of the victory and Hummer will do the same thing if Smith is elected. The candidates were each with party friends when the agreement was made and it took so well that about forty Democrats and Republicans are now paired in the friencüy demonstration.
