A Murderous Assault
A rumor was spread arouod the city Sunday that Fred Weiniuann had killed his brother, Joba Weiumanu, by striking him over the head with a stick of cordwood. Fred Weimnann, the assailaat, will ba recollected as the first coustable of the new seveuth ward aud who was so ofificiuus in his attentious to his duties tbat his miud becaine unbalauced and he was seut to the Poutiao iiisaue asylnm, from which institntion he has oaly recently been released. The brothers reside with their niother ou Browu st. , and during a quarrel on Sunday morning Fred picked up a stick of stovewood and struck John a fearful blow on the head fracturing his skull. John irumediately lapsed into unconsicousness in spite of all the surgeons could do for biiu. Seeing what he had done Fred fled aud the offlcers have scoured the snrroonding oonotry in search of him, but at present no trace of him bas been found. John Weinmaun has been taken to the university hospital, where he is beiug cared for. It is thought that he will live.
