Toledo, O., Oct. 6.- The eighty-seventh annual meeting of the American board of commissioners for foreign missions convened Tuesday in the First Congregational church with an attendance of over five hundred delegates. Among them we're many of the brainiest and ablest men of this denominaron in the United States, including President Franklin Fisk of the Chicago Theological seminary, Dr. Washington Gladden of Columbus, Dr. Lyman Abbott of the Outlook, Dr. William Hayes Ward of the Independent, Dr. Daniel Brudley of Grand Rapids, Dr. U. Boynton of Detroit, Dr. George A. Leavitt of Beloit, Wis., Dr. E. P. Goodwill and Dr. F. P. Noble. The opening hóur of Tuesday's session was devoted to religious exercises. Rev. Dr. Richard S. Storrs of Brooklyn called the board to order, and in the evening the annual sermón was preached by Edward N. Packard of Syracuse, N. Y. The board will discuss the Armenian atrocities and the destruction of the missions and schools at Harpoot, in which missions, under the supervisión of the American board, the Congregationalistdenomination has been especially interested.
