Ou Satnrday morning Marshal Petersou arrested Bruno Paulus, a tailor, iving at 7 Brooks st., on the nharge of beiug the father of the cbild of his adopted daughter Minnie, which was )orn about six weeks ago. Tbe girl is .6 years old and was adopted' by Panlus and his wife at Muskegou, in 1889. ?or some time past rumora had been loating around among the neighbors ;hat all was not as it sbonld be and the marshal had been repeatedly requested to do something in the matter. He finally yielded to the reqnests and on Saturday morniug had an interview with the girl in the presence of witnesses whioh warrauted the immediate arrest of Paulns on tbe above charge. Paalus was placed in jai 1 to await a hearing. He claimed to be innocent and stated that Charles Meyer, of Detroit, was the father of the child. Piiiüus was brought into court Satnrday uight and hearing was adjourned uutil Mouday, when it was atraiu further adjoaarned until uext Monday.
