Many of our oitizens %vent to Jacksou today to see Mr. Bryan. Mrs. H. Yonugbans, of Toledo, is the gnest of her daughter, Mrs. Grossman. Fred Freeman and James Martin went to Cantón last Tuesday to see McKiuley. Hou. Mark. S. Brewer, of Pontiao, who for inany years was a member of congress, spoke at Arbeiter hall, Wednesday evening. A most interesting meeting was given last Monday evening by the Alpha Sigma. A large nnmber were present, and the qnestion, Resolved, "That a gold standard would be beneficial to the American people," was most ably discussed by Fred Kapp, Bert Teeter, Martha Kuhl and Helen Leesou, members of the junior class. The quescion was decided in favor of the negative. The remaining program, consisting of orations, recitations and essays, was well delivered and reflecta great credit to both teachers and pupils. Last Wednesday morning the remaiu8 of Miss Hannah Stegmiller, of Jackson, were brought to this place. About eight weeks ago she went to Jaokson to visit her sister and was taken sick which termiuated in catarrhal cnnsumption. She was 21 years of age and a much beloved young lady. She was an ardent rnember of the St. Mary's church and will be greatly missed by her many friends. The funeral was held Friday forenoon, at St. Mary's church and was attended by a large circle of friends, not only from this place but also from Jackson. The beautiful floral offerings showed the high esteetn in whioh she was held.
