At the meeting of the grand chapter Order of EaBtern Star, held at Afilian Wednesday and Thursday of last week, Graud Patrón Charles O. Conover's animal report to the body showed that 33 new cnapters bad been instituted in Michigan during the year, makiug au addition of 921 to the membership. There are now 175 obapters in the state, the couibined inembership being 12,700. Grand Matron Lida A. Pratt, of Jackson, and Graud Secretary Mrs. A. A. Matteson reported that there had been 71 deaths di ring the year, 2,000 members had been initated and 254 bad deinitted. The offloers for the ensuing year are' Worthy grand matron, Mrs. Lida A. Pratt, Jacksou ; worthy grand patrón, Fred H. Hosford, Grand Rapids; ass ciate grand matron, Mrs. Heleu E O. Bolmer, Mt. Pleasant; assooiate grand patrou, Wm. F. Kiug, Adrián; graud seoretary, Mrs. A. A. Matteson, Middleville; graud treasnrer, Mrs. S. K. Wiuaus, Lansing; graud conductress, JMrs. D. C. Page, Pontiac; grand associate conduotress, Mrs. Ellen M. Murray, Detroit. The followiug grand officers were appointed by the wortby grand matron elect: Grand Adah, Mrs. Carrie Gurney, Hart; grand Rnth, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Yates, Negauneeí grand Estber, Mrs. ü. W. McKenzie, Sanlt Ste Marie; grand Martha, Mrs. Kate W. Doty, Ann Arbor; grand Electa, Mrs. Mary E. Edwards, Fremont; grand chaplain, Mrs. Cornelia Robinson, Lapeer; grand marshal, Mrs. Naotui Goodrich, Coopersville; grand warden, Mrs. Catharine Ford, Calpdonia; grand sentinel, N. H. VVebb, Detroit; grand organist, Mrs. Paulina Hale, Grass Lake. The installafcion services were conducted by Past Grand Worthy Matron Mrs. Louise A. Tnrck, of Alma, and Grand Marshal Mrs. Louise A. Scollen, of Saginaw, aud were very impressive. The next session will be held in Detroit, oommencing on the second Wednesday in October, 1897, when the delegates will be guests of the h're chapters of that city.
