Kelsey attended a Presbyterian meeting, in aid of the Tappan association of this city, at Detroit last Priday evening. Dr. W. B. Hinsdale, dean of the homeopathio department, gave a reception to the homeopathio students and bis frieuds at his residence Friday evuning, The fraternities of the oniversity gave their first dancing party of the season at Grangers' academy last Priday evening. Tt was well attended and muoh enjoyed. Socials, espeoially fnr U. of M. stndents, were held at tbe Presbyterian, Baptist and Methodist churches.on Friday evening. They were all very pleasant and profitable. James A. LeRoy, lit '96, who is now superintendent of schools at Pontiao, was in tbe oity Saturday oalling on his many old friends at the university and taking in the ΓΌ. of M.-Lake Foreet football game. Werk on the gymnasium bas opened with a rush this f all. Dr. Fitzgerald reports that thfi classes are already as large as they were the niiddle of last year, even though so many students are occupied with football on the various teams. The U. of M. Bryan Silver Club, recently organized, has chaDenged the representatives of any opposing organization of studeuts or oitizens, or any member or membars of the university faculty, to a debate on the political issues of the day at a convenient time and plaoe.
