For the first time since 1860 the people of this country have an opportunity to elect to the presidency, a man who is distinctively a people's candidate; who is in close touch with the coinmon people; who is standing for fundamental principies of government upon which rests the prosperity of the masses. In the impassioned language of Mr. Bryan himself: "There is nothing in that Cliicago platform that threatens the business safety of society. There is nothing in that platform that interferes with the right of any mau to life, überty and property. There is nothing to ruenace the welfare of the man who expects to earu his living. The only people whose interests are menaced are those who expect to live off the earnings of others." Every sentence breathes protection for the masses f rom the classes. Then let us try a change. Let us once more ïave a president of the people - a Fackson to check the aggressions of organized wealth; a Lincoln to lead ;he people out from bondage. The corporation s whose power has become greater than that of the governtnent tself, and the bankers who have been able to play football with the national reasury, will not like this it is true, )ut then we have always understood taat this repablie of ours was the creaion of the people, and was created for ;he benefit of the people and not for any class or section. Wlien the inerests of the few clash with the intersts of the many, the few must stand aside, or the many will lose their rivilege of self government'
