The board of supervisors bas been in session all this week, and sorne business of great irnporatance to the county treasury nas been transaoted. Monday was devoter! almost entirely to paassiug ou and allowing bilis. On Tuesday amonq the other business transaoted Elisha Loomis, who has been YpsilantiV superintendent of the poor for mauy years, was removed f rom officp, and Traoy L. Towner was appointed in bis stead. A motion to appoint a committee to learn the oost of putting in a fite proof vault at the court honse was lost. The request of the soldiers' relief comtnission for $1,000 for the ensuing year was yranted although an attempt was made to ont it down to $500. Wednesday was a great day for business, many of the bilis inspeoted were given a vigorous pruning. The board was also of the opinión that the bold-, ing of coroner's inquests had been of too frequent ooourreuce and that the expenses ia connection therewith was too great. A oommittee was appointed to look iuto the matter. At the yosterday's session the apportionment of the county taxes was made asfollows: County fund, $8,000; con tingent fund, 9,000; pabilo building fund, $800; jary fnnd, .f3,000; witness fund, $700; suhool examiners' fund, $1,500; stenographers' fund, $1,000; salary fnnd, $7,000; fnel fuud, $900; Eastern Michigan asylnm, $2,000; soldiers' relief fund, $1,000 ; poor fund, $3,500; total apportionment, $37,500. Estimated liquor tax, $18,000; oounty tax recommended, $25,000; total estiinatfi, $43,000; total appartioned, $7,000; blance unappoitinned, $5,600. ïhe salaries of the county offioers were rednced. The salary of the connty clerk was flxed at $1,000, a reductiou of $200. The salary of treasurer was lef 6 at $1,000. The salary of prosecnting attorney was rednced to $1,000, a reduction of $200. The salary of probate register was cut f rom $1,300 to $600. Tbe commissioner of schools was reduced to $1,200, a out of $300. The bilis of Coronpr Ball were reconsidered with a view to iuvestigating the same. As we go to press, the Argus learns of the deatb of Mrs. James Shirley, and the suïcide of her husband, which ooourred either last night or this moruing The Aan Arbor township board of registration meets at the town hall on Saturday, Oct. 31, frcin 8 o'clock to 5 for the purpose of registering the ers of the town.
