It is essential that we should have a representative in eongress whose services to the district shall extend beyond the distributiou of federal patronage and whose inlluence as a legislator shall not be circumscribed by a small coterie of otliee seekera. In Thos. E. Barkworth the electors of this district have au opportunity to secure at once the service of commanding abilities and a reputation that is notconlined to tlie state of Michigan. VVhile Mr. Barkworth is a self made and self educated man in every seuse ot the term, lie has never engaged in any undeitaking in which he did not win at once a leadiug place. As a lawyerhe stands in the Iront ranks of the Michigan bar. As a legislator, he, during his terms at Lausing, though a member of the minority party, was easily the most intluential man upon the floor of the house. If he is sent to Washington he will go to his duties enuipped with a training of experience and a reputation as a parliamentarian and debater that wiĆ¼ make the Michigan delegation once more a power in the lower house. Vote for Toni Barkwortli aud you will secure brains, f orce of character, experience aud all that goes to make a valuable legislator.
