The aunual meeting of the Michigan State Association of Farmers' Clubs will be held at the capitol building, Lausing, Monday and Tnesday, Deo. 7 anrl 8, 1886. The following declaratiou of priuciples will be reoointuended for adoption : First- That all county offloials be paid in fnll for their respeotive services by stated salaries fixed by the respective boards of supervisors; and that it be made a criminal offense for snch officials to reoeive auy fees, or other perquisites in addition to their salaries. Further, that the fees collected in county offices bereadjnsted on an equitable basis, and thafc hereafter, all suoh fees be turned into the county treasury and become a part of the general f and. Second - That no state institutions be established by the. next legislatura, and that there be a general weeding out of tbe unprofitable state inetitutions already in existence, and of unbusiness-like methods of management wherever tbey exist. Third - That Michigan prisons should, in the aggregate, be made selfsupporting. Fourth - That provisión be made whereby the estates of tbe insaue, or those parties legally responsible for their support, sball oontribnte either in full or in part, as the circuinstauces shall warrant, toward the maintenance of said insane wheu confined in the public asylums. Fifth- That not more than the rognlar oue-sixth mili tax be granted to tbe university for the coming two years. Sixth - That no changas be made in our road laws whereby the maintenance of our roads shall be made more bnrdensome than the present. Seventh - That a more eoonomical and effective system for the collection of taxes upon non-resideut land must be devisad. Bighth -That onr tax system be so amended as to secure a more equitable distribntion of the burdeus of taxation upou both personal property and real estáte, aud upon both corporate and private capital. The directtirs and offlcers of the associatiou have been at work during the last year amoug the 230 clubs in tbe state. It is claimed that the result of this work was made apparent at the fall meeting of tbe various boards of supervisors, when the salaries of ruauy couuty officers were reduced. The meetiug at Lansiug will be a lively on e. üyery tarruers club iq the state is urged to seud two delegates to the aunnal meeting, and all who are in syrupafhy witb the pnrpose of the assooiation are invited to ba theii.
